According to high-ranking Western politicians and officials, Ukraine will lose the war if the new package of military aid worth 60 billion dollars is not approved. However, many interviewees were unable to answer what victory for Ukraine in the war against would look like.
According to the chairman of the US Congress Intelligence Committee, Senator Mark Warner of the Democratic Party, the approval of the new aid package by the House of Representatives will be a «turning point» for Ukraine. However, Warner did not claim that this step would ensure the country’s victory in the war, but simply stated that American assistance is Ukraine’s last and best hope: «I don’t know any other way for Ukrainians to get the weapons, ammunition, and tools they need in the short term other than from the United States.»
At the same time, a total of 13 interviewees of Politico complained that the current plan to support Ukraine consists solely of keeping its armed forces from collapsing due to a lack of ammunition, personnel, and the capture of Avdiivka by Russian forces.
