«20 Days in Mariupol» was filmed by a team of reporters from the Associated Press, including director Mstislav Chernov, photographer Yevgeny Maloletka, and producer Vasilisa Stepanenko.
The group filmed the siege of the city for 20 days and had to leave when Russian troops approached too close to the city and captured part of it. The journalists feared that if the footage was discovered, it would likely be destroyed by Russian soldiers.
«20 Days in Mariupol» has won the Pulitzer Prize. The film received the Audience Award at the American independent film festival «Sundance» and the Directors Guild of America Award.
