It turns out that the work will not even begin in the spring. As explained in the Vilnius City Administration, the implementation of the project is indeed delayed. The ice may break in the second half of the year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
«Vokechyu Street is located in the oldest part of Vilnius, so everything possible is being done to harmonize and provide for the preservation of historical heritage as well as the modern needs of the city’s residents. The scope and design solutions of the project were revised, which took a little longer than planned. It is expected that the procurement of subcontracting work will be announced in the second half of this year,» said Gabrielius Grubinskas, a media relations specialist at the Vilnius City Administration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The reconstruction of Vokechyu Street was initially planned for February 2023. Later, the deadline was postponed to the autumn of last year, and then, due to the approach of winter, to the spring of 2024. Currently, the municipality does not specify the date of the start of restoration work.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Vokechyu Street is expected to become more pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly. The project envisages the maximum preservation of existing trees and respect for history.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
More non-commercial areas are planned to be equipped, and pedestrians will finally not have to share the open space with cafe visitors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
