According to the Ministry of Defense, the first soldiers arriving in Lithuania will be settled in . They will be responsible for planning the brigade’s transfer to Lithuania and coordinating requirements for military infrastructure.
By the end of the year, the expanded main element of the headquarters will also be responsible for assisting in the relocation of German soldiers to serve in Lithuania.
After the creation of military infrastructure at the Rudninkskoye training ground, the German brigade will be stationed in the Shalchininksky district. The Rudninsky training ground will be the place of service for 80% of the soldiers of the German brigade, while the rest will serve in Rukla.
In the summer of 2022, took on the obligation to deploy a military unit the size of a brigade in Lithuania — such an agreement is stipulated in the joint communique signed by and President Gitanas Nauseda.
After lengthy discussions in December of last year, defense ministers of the countries signed an action plan for the deployment of the brigade. Berlin will send the 122nd armored battalion, stationed in Oberfichtach in southern Germany, and the 203rd tank battalion, stationed in Augstdorf in western Germany, to Lithuania.
