«If this is a personal question, did I expect (such decisions) — definitely not. But the minister made a decision, and it seems that the prime minister will consider it,» A. Armonaite said on Thursday on Žinių radijas, noting that she did not delve into the details of the situation that caused a stir.

«Apparently, the minister knows the situation better than anyone else and can assess what decisions can be made here. She did it yesterday. That’s it. And I believe it’s the best decision,» she added.

Currently, M. Navickene is heading not only the Ministry of Social Protection and Labor (Ministry of Social Affairs), but also temporarily holds the position of Minister of Education.

When asked whether representatives of the Freedom Party could claim these vacant portfolios, A. Armonaite replied that she does not consider such a scenario yet.

«Firstly, it was not the ministry — as, by the way, was education — that the Freedom Party received during negotiations. Responsibility for managing these areas was taken on by the conservatives. It is primarily their prerogative, and now they must ensure the quality of work of these ministries,» said A. Armonaite.

Minister of Social Protection and Labor Monika Navickene decided to step down from her post due to the ongoing scandal surrounding her ties and the ties of her spouse Mindaugas Navickas with the company Foxpay, owned by Eva Trinkunaitė and her partner, entrepreneur Vilhelmas Germanas, who previously served a prison sentence for financial crimes.

Foxpay also became the subject of an investigation by the Government Coordinating Commission for the protection of objects critical to national security. On Wednesday, it became known that the commission had not allowed the owner of Foxpay, Eva Trinkunaitė, to acquire the company LITLAB, the main shareholder of which is the spouse of Minister M. Navickas. It is reported that during the consideration of the future deal, the owner of Foxpay changed her plans and changed her mind, however, the commission independently inspected the company and found that the investor does not meet the requirements of the law on the protection of objects of national importance.

On Wednesday, the portal 15min.lt reported that last year the minister flew to Dubai on a private plane together with E. Trinkunaitė and her partner V. Germanas.
