Experts say that the project was supposed to be carried out in two stages: the first stage involved preparing documents for land planning and acquisition for state needs, and the second stage involved preparing the technical project and construction.
«The Vilnius Municipality has prepared and approved a special plan for the section of road A16 from the intersection with Gulskiu Street to the intersection with Savanoriu Avenue and is in the process of acquiring the necessary parcels,» said Gabrielius Grubinskas, press secretary of the Vilnius Municipality.
According to him, nothing is known about the implementation of the second stage yet. The schedule for the second stage works has also not been agreed upon.
Remember that during the implementation of this project, the stretch of road from Vilnius to will be expanded from 2 to 4 lanes with a median strip. It is also planned to equip connecting roads, pedestrian and bicycle paths.
Since the traffic on the Trakai road is very intense, expanding the road would improve traffic conditions and safety.
