Президент expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister of the Netherlands for his country’s contribution to ensuring the security of Lithuania and the entire eastern flank of NATO, as well as for the presence of Dutch military personnel in our country as part of the enhanced forward presence NATO battle group.
The President emphasized the need for further strengthening of deterrence on the eastern flank of NATO and its forward defense through effective implementation of the decisions made at . The President invited to participate in the implementation of a rotational model of air defense in Lithuania.
«Currently, we allocate 2.75% for defense and we will continue to increase these commitments in the near future. We are actively working with Germany on the implementation of the decision to permanently deploy a German brigade in Lithuania. Investments in defense are the only way to ensure long-term and sustainable peace. Deterrence is the most effective and cost-effective defense,» said the President at the meeting.
Gitanas Nauseda also emphasized the need for full support for Ukraine from allies.
