Фракция «Свободы» пока не намерена предпринимать никаких действий в отношении депутата Матийошайтиса

«He said he turned to the Ethics and Procedures Commission of the Saeima, which will be able to assess whether there were any coincidences or not. Therefore, I think these steps are logical and only he himself, along with the conclusion of the commission, will be able to answer how this equipment was used, what it was used for, and how much he had», said V. Mitalas to the Elta agency.

«In my opinion, it would be appropriate to wait for the conclusion of the commission, since I did not personally review the expenditure summaries of my colleagues, so I do not know anything except what I read in the public domain. Let the Ethics Commission deal with this», he added.

The politician emphasizes that it will be the conclusions of the parliamentary ethics guards that will determine whether any further steps need to be taken regarding M. Matjosaitis.

«This will depend on the conclusions and on what M. Matjosaitis himself intends to do with this. We will wait and see», said the faction leader of «Freedom».

After the initiative of Skaidrinam reached the Saeima, a public figure announced on Monday that Marius Matjosaitis, a member of the Freedom Party, had purchased various computer equipment and audio equipment using funds allocated for parliamentary activities. In addition, according to verified reports, the representative of the «Freedom» faction spent nearly 500 euros per month on renting additional equipment.

Meanwhile, M. Matjosaitis himself claims that the purchased equipment was purposefully used for work in the Saeima. According to the parliamentarian, he will reimburse the Saeima Chancellery for any equipment that is deemed non-targeted.
