An investigation into the desecration of national symbols has been launched. As the investigation is ongoing, no further information is being provided.
It should be noted that on the evening of March 9th, a Lithuanian flag with a broken staff was found on Shauliu Street in Klaipeda. On Friday morning, four burnt Lithuanian tricolours were discovered in the Port district of Klaipeda.
The police have initiated an investigation to identify the participants and organizers of this act. Later, information emerged about eight more damaged flags. The flags were removed from buildings, some were burned, and others had broken staffs.
It is reported that the flags were damaged on Poilse, Naikupes, Nidos, Zhalygyo and Kalnupes streets. Desecration of the flag, coat of arms, or national anthem can result in fines, restrictions of freedom, imprisonment, or up to 2 years of imprisonment.
