According to the Bank of Lithuania, the preliminary sale of this coin started on Thursday at 8 am in the Bank of Lithuania’s online store monetos.lb.lt.
The commemorative coin will be put into circulation on March 28, and it will be available for purchase not only in the online store but also at the Bank of Lithuania’s branches in and .
The obverse and reverse of this coin are struck from two connected planes. The tricolor, symbolizing the independence of the Lithuanian state, is located in the center of the obverse and reverse, which served as the basis for becoming a full member of both NATO and the EU.
Around the flag on the obverse, there is a symbol of the Lithuanian coat of arms, the inscription «LIETUVA» denomination «20 €», year «2024». On the background of the coin, there are fragmented symbols of NATO and the EU, depicted at different levels of measurement.
Around the flag on the reverse, there are symbols of NATO and the EU, and next to them are the dates of Lithuania’s accession to NATO and the EU: March 29, 2004, and May 1, 2004. On the background, there is microtext with the 5th article of the North Atlantic Treaty and the notes of the EU anthem, «Ode to Joy» from Ludwig van Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.
