It is reported that the proportion of foreign citizens who arrived in Lithuania last year increased by 20% and reached a total of 69%, with the rest being residents of Lithuania. Compared to 2022, the overall growth in the number of tourists was 12% or almost 1.2 million guests.

According to Dovile Aleksandraviciene, the director of Go Vilnius, despite the fact that the increased number of tourists is still catching up with pre-pandemic flows, last year’s results are encouraging.

«We notice that compared to 2022, both the total number of guests and the proportion of foreigners increased last year. Although we have not yet returned to pre-pandemic tourist flows, last year’s figures are optimistic, so this year we predict even more tourists and even greater benefits generated by them for the entire economy of the city,» notes the director of Go Vilnius.

In terms of geography, Vilnius is most often visited by tourists from Poland, Germany, Latvia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Belarus. There is a particularly significant increase in the number of tourists from Poland — the proportion of citizens of this country who visited Vilnius increased by 58%.

There was also an increase in the number of tourists from Germany (by 33%), the United Kingdom (by 10%), Latvia (by 6%), and the United States (by 26%). Most guests visit the capital of Lithuania in the summer, from May to August. On average, they spend less than two days in the city.

Along with the increase in the number of tourists in Vilnius, there is also an increase in hotel occupancy. Last year, it reached a whopping 68%, while in 2022 this indicator was 7 percentage points lower.
