Премьер: давайте дорожить свободой и быть готовыми защищать ее всеми силами

«This year we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Declaration of the Council of the Movement for the Freedom of Lithuania. We must honor the memory of all fighters for sovereignty, which brings us joy now, and not forget that the victory won is not a gift,» said Šimonytė in her congratulatory message.

«Celebrating the origins of the independent Lithuanian state, we must always remember the high price of freedom. Let us cherish our freedom and be prepared to defend it with all our strength. Congratulations to everyone on February 16,» the Prime Minister continued.

«Every generation experiences its own struggle for freedom and is obliged to overcome its challenges. Two years ago, the invasion of Ukraine began, which showed that in today’s world freedom and democracy still face aggressive attacks and human rights are being trampled. There is no doubt that today the Ukrainians courageously fight not only for their homeland, but also for the entire free world and its future. By extending a helping hand to Ukraine, we strengthen the foundation of our own freedom, fight for our future, and ensure that it never turns into ruins and a labyrinth of trenches,» said Šimonytė.

«No compromises and concessions can be made towards the murderers of innocent civilians. Lithuania and all democratic forces will stand with Ukraine until victory is achieved, imperial ambitions will be curtailed, and the guilty will be brought to justice,» she added.

According to Šimonytė, Lithuanians should not be frightened by the looming clouds of military threat.

«On the contrary, we must be united, strong, and ready to resist. The more united and strong we are together, the more we will take part in the victory of Ukraine and the entire free world, which we eagerly await,» the President’s congratulatory message stated.
