В Литве будут розданы социальные карты нуждающимся жителям

It is reported that the first delivery of social cards, intended for the purchase of food and consumer goods, is being made to municipal administrations and the charity and support fund Maisto Bankas.

«Needy residents will no longer have to stand in line and wait for food to be distributed according to schedules. They will be able to freely manage the money on the card and decide for themselves what they want to buy at the selected store,» emphasizes the Minister of Social Protection and Labour.

According to the Ministry, ten suppliers have currently joined the initiative of social cards: some stores of the alliance ZAO Aibė, ZAO Grūstė, ZAO Gulbelė, ZAO IKI Lietuva, ZAO Indritus, a consumer cooperative in Kaišiadorys, ZAO Koops mažmena, ZAO Lidl Lietuva, ZAO MAXIMA L, ZAO RIMI Lietuva.

The administrations of the self-governments of Akmenė, Anykščiai, Kelmė, Kėdainiai, Kretinga, Prienai, Radviliškis, Raseiniai, Šalčininkai, Telšiai, Trakai, Utena, and Vilnius districts will also distribute social cards to residents.

The administrations of the municipalities [names redacted] will also distribute soccards.

The responsible employees of the aforementioned municipal administrations or sianuni will inform you when and where you can receive the card.

In all other municipalities, the cards will be handed over to recipients by Maisto Bankas. Assistance recipients will receive an SMS message to their phone number indicating when and where they need to collect the card.

It is planned to transfer funds to social cards 4 times a year — in mid-March, June, September, and December. The funds can be used from the moment they are received until March 14th of the following calendar year.

According to the Ministry, the deadline for low-income residents to submit applications for funds for the first quarter on the social card has been extended until February 29th. The funds for this quarter will be transferred in April.
